Virtual Reunion | Yoga Class
Part of Alumni Reunion 2021

Join Samara Anderson JD/MSEL'03 for a morning yoga class via Zoom! No prior yoga experience is required, and all alumni are welcome to attend. 

This therapeutic class is appropriate for all those seeking the benefits of a very relaxing, gentle, and nourishing practice. The combination of gentle Vinyasa (connecting breath to movements), Hatha (holding poses to build strength and stability), and deep restorative work improves range of motion and joint mobility while reducing pain and the effects of stress. The focus of this class is to shift from the stressed sympathetic nervous system to the relaxed and healing parasympathetic nervous system and create space and openness in the shoulders, spine, hips, and lower body. Individuals with injuries, arthritis, or other chronic conditions are welcome to join, as all practitioners will benefit from this practice.

About Samara:

Samara Anderson JD/MSEL'03 is a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher becoming a 500-hour Certified Yoga Medicine Instructor, Agency of Human Services Legal and Policy Advisor, MBSR Instructor-In-Training, and an entrepreneur teaching mindfulness to stressed professionals. Her long-term goal is to create a community wellness farm, which uses animals, nature and mindfulness to heal people. She discovered yoga in 2003 when she graduated from Vermont Law School and was in a stressful and busy commercial litigation law firm based in New York City.

Her legal work has evolved from complex commercial litigation to public service with the State of Vermont, initially as an Assistant Attorney General and now as an in-house legal and policy advisor for the State of Vermont Agency of Human Services. Her yoga practice has deepened over the past eleven years, culminating in completing her first 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2013 and, in 2020, completing her 500-hour Yoga MedicineTM teaching certification. Since 2016, Samara has combined her mindfulness and therapeutic yoga practices with the practice of law in her Mindful Practices workshops to reduce stress and increase productivity and happiness. Attorneys and non-attorneys alike exclaim that they have never felt so relaxed and focused at the same time: two qualities that make for highly effective attorneys and humans.
