Dear VLGS alumni and friends,

March is an exciting time on campus with classes, student events, symposia, and even the Vermont Supreme Court justices filling our docket.

Excellence in teaching remains a cherished part of the VLGS landscape. Professor David Firestone has infused his classroom with energy, intellect, wit, and wisdom—from our inaugural Class of 1976 to the present. We now celebrate his fifty years of teaching excellence with the David B. Firestone Professorship, the first named professorship at VLGS. Here's what one long-time colleague of David's had to say:

"A richly deserved tribute to a legend."
– Pat Parenteau
Emeritus Professor of Law, Senior Fellow for Climate Policy in the Environmental Law Center (ELC), and Former ELC Director

Your contribution to the Firestone Professorship will support our academic programs and teaching excellence. Click here to find multiple ways to donate, donor names, photos of a bearded and bespectacled David through the years, and a map we hope to fill in with donations from all fifty states! We'll honor Professor Firestone on Saturday, June 29, at the Reunion Weekend 2024 alumni dinner. Please join us.

Thank you, as always, for your wonderful Swan support. Read on for more exciting news.

Sincerely,

Dave Celone JD'92
Vice President, Alumni Relations and Development

Marc Mihaly and Rich Levitt

A Visit to the Vermont State House

Professor Emeritus Marc Mihaly—former VLGS president and dean, and current member of Vermont's House of Representatives—stands proudly in front of the Vermont Senate chamber with Rich Levitt JD'99/MSEL'00 during a recent VLGS development and alumni relations visit to Montpelier.

The elaborate Senate chamber is housed within the state capitol building. After 140 years, the Vermont State House still commands the landscape of Montpelier, the smallest capital city in America. The House and Senate chambers are the oldest active legislative chambers in their original condition anywhere in the country.
