2019 VLSAA Board of Directors Nominees

At large Director Nominee

Meagan Munsey JD'05

Meagan Munsey JD'05 Statement of Interest Response:
The thoughtful initiatives that students and alumni alike have embarked upon subsequent to my time in South Royalton are both inspiring and necessary work. I envision VLS as continuing to grow and thrive in the next 5 years as a result. While at VLS I learned firsthand the impact a small, but dedicated and passionate community can have in effecting change, from the smallest of levels up through major channels of government. I consider the 3 years at VLS as some of the best of my life and I want to continue my involvement with the law school by serving on the VLSAA Board.

I have carried the strength drawn from the sense of community and purpose I felt while living in South Royalton with me even after my time at VLS, and it has enhanced my extensive involvement with several regional organizations including my participation as a member of the Board of Directors for Girls on the Run New Hampshire, and as a member of the Steering Committee for the NH Bar Association’s Leadership Academy. I’ve also been involved with various charitable giving endeavors through the United Way in conjunction with my employer, Sun Life Financial.

Regarding my ongoing alumni service, since joining the VLSAA Board I have served on the mentoring committee, executive committee, and co-chaired the regional groups committee. Reconnecting with alumni and regular visits to campus has been invigorating, and reignited my desire to deepen my engagement with more meaningful involvement in the VLS community.

My student activities while at VLS included active participation in the Student Government Association, the Women’s Law Group, the Environmental Law Society, and as a Campus Ambassador. I also worked in the South Royalton Legal Clinic, and can say without doubt that I learned as much inside of the classrooms as I did outside of them.

I am fully prepared for the time and energy commitment required for this position, and am eager to serve. South Royalton and VLS are places I hold very dear and the opportunity to give back by continuing my work with the VLSAA Board is very exciting. I look forward to continuing to work with alumni and students in advocating for and continuing to enhance the reputation of what is undoubtedly one of the world’s finest learning institutions
