Cole Konopka JD'16

Cole Konopka is an associate at Coats Rose, P.C. in Austin, Texas. Cole’s practice is focused primarily on public finance and real estate, including matters related to the acquisition and development of real property, particularly in the creation of special purpose districts to finance development. He handles statutory and regulatory interpretation, governmental relations, and administration of special districts. He represents clients before administrative agencies such as the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), the Texas Water Development Board, and various cities, counties, and regional service providers. Cole represents over twenty special purpose districts as general counsel and bond counsel and has assisted in the issuance of over $100 million of tax-exempt bonds.
While attending VLS, Cole was elected Vermont Editor of the Vermont Law Review and was a research associate for the Water and Justice Program. While in the Water and Justice Program, Cole wrote extensively on the public trust doctrine and the Clean Water Act. He also taught a Legal Writing I workshop as a dean’s fellow during his third year. Cole currently sits on the Vermont Law School Alumni Association’s Board of Directors and enjoys mentoring students and alumni.
