Gayla, March 31 and April 1, 2017 at Vermont Law School, celebrates the historic queer art form of drag in honor of the historic Stonewall riots in the late 1960s and the modern LGBTQ rights movement. Last years, titled "Election Gay," included student, faculty, and staff participants dressed in drag. Performances range from high-energy lip syncs, to live musical acts, comedians, dancing, and catwalk modeling. The event is run by the Student Alliance coalition of LGBTQ and straight members of the law community whose mission is to achieve equality before the law, educate the community about LGBTQ identities, oppose homophobia and heterosexism, sponsor conferences, speakers, social events, and promote diversity within the Vermont community. Whether you can attend in person (preferred!) or remotely, this is an opportunity to make a direct connection to our fellow fighting swans still in the nest.
