Matthew Marks is the deputy associate general counsel of the Air and Radiation Law Office (ARLO) within EPA’s Office of General Counsel. He supervises an office of 43 attorneys and support staff who provide legal support to EPA’s efforts to reduce threats to public health and the environment by cleaning up the nation’s air, addressing climate change, and dealing with radiation issues.
Before serving in his current role, Matthew was the assistant general counsel for the New Source Performance Standards and Visibility practice group within ARLO, where he advised on such matters as the restoration of air quality in our national parks and wilderness areas and the regulation of greenhouse gas emissions from large industrial sources like electric power plants and oil and natural gas operations. Matthew began his legal career as an attorney-advisor within ARLO. Matthew completed his undergraduate studies at Hamilton College and received his law degree from Vermont Law School.
