Shazia is the CEO and cofounder of EcoEnergy Global, a tech company accelerating the adoption of solar in emerging markets. In 2021, Shazia was selected as a member of the UN's Technical Working Group on Energy Access, responsible for creating policy recommendations for COP26. In 2020, EcoEnergy was awarded the Start-Up Energy Transition Award by the German Ministry of Energy for top 100 energy start-ups in the world. In 2020, Shazia was also selected as a SheEo Venture, a global investment platform that supports the most promising female founders.
She is a four-time finalist for the prestigious C3E Awards. Led by Stanford and MIT, the award recognizes the leadership and achievement of women who have worked for the advancement of clean energy. Prior to founding EcoEnergy Global, Shazia was a consultant with the World Bank’s Global Environment Facility and the Africa Energy Sector, Grameen Shakti, and Pakistan's National Development Finance Corporation.
Shazia graduated from Smith College in 1998 and Vermont Law School in 2003, with a specialization in energy and international business.
