At-Large Member
Arturo Hernandez is an attorney at McMahon Berger P.C., in St. Louis, Missouri, representing management and business owners in employment and labor law, with an emphasis on litigation and business immigration. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Arturo graduated from VLS (now VLGS) in 2007. During his time at South Royalton, Arturo volunteered as an VLS Student Ambassador, and Co-Chair of the Mock Trial Team, competing regionally both his second and third year. He also spent time with the Fighting Swans Rugby Team, and a member of the South Royalton Rescue Squad, as a volunteer EMS instructor. Arturo also spent a semester-in-practice at the Alexandria, Virginia Public Defender’s Office, where he gained valuable insight into the trial practice world.
After graduating from VLS, Arturo moved to Missouri, with his wife and VLS alum, Jennifer (Balsman) Hernandez. Arturo worked as a state Public Defender for five years and then opened his own practice in Jefferson City, Missouri. During his time in private practice, he also served as appointed counsel for juveniles in Cole County, Missouri and then as Counsel for the Juvenile Officer. Arturo also taught undergraduate criminal justice courses and graduate business law classes as an Adjunct Professor.
During his time away from the office, Arturo spends a lot of time cheering on his kids sports endeavors, his KC Chiefs (not so much his beleaguered Dallas Cowboys anymore), and of course his beloved Texas A&M Aggies. He is also a board member of the Historic Preservation Commission, and spends many weekends outdoors fishing, grilling/smoking briskets, and living life to the fullest.
